The Bernabeu crowd would turn on him very quickly if he gave the ball away for Real as much as has for us in this second half. So casual.
It would help if he had some help in front of him, but nobody makes any runs to create space in front of the ball. Feel really sorry him. So much is expected of him but he hasn’t got the players around him. He will be stupid if he signs a new contract with us if Real or City come in for him.
The very top players do it on their own, I just don’t think he’s got the desire and personality to actually become good enough to replace the likes of Cristiano at a club like Real.
Kante, on the other hand, must surely have his pick of any club in the world.
I dread to think where we would be without him.
He's carrying weight too by the looks ofor things.
A victim of us being so average I think. I was never a huge fan of Costa but I bet Eden was/is.
Unless we up the talent around Hazard massively then I'd be off if I were him. The man deserves better than what we currently have around him.
I like the man and never see a lack of heart like many do. I see plenty of fouls against him but when he does avoid the foul he goes on a run and is then left with passing to Aspi, Kante or Moses - who aren't exaclty goal or killer ball threats.
The team is crying out for a creative and goal scoring midfield general. A captain that will lead by example and direct on the pitch.
Why does he deserve better, cos he’s a talented player? People talk about him in the same breath as Messi and Ronaldo but the difference is, rather than allow themselves to be restricted by their teammate, those two show personality by winning games on their own and they do it consistently. Hazard has won us games with his ability, don’t get me wrong, but he also goes missing a lot too.
I like Hazard but I think he’s too nice for his own good. He’s obviously a fantastic player on his day, but given how central every manager has made him to the team, he is too often found lacking when we really need him for my liking. Bearing in mind the club have got rid of the likes of De Bruyne and Salah in favour of Hazard, I think it’s fair to say we’d expect to be seeing him do more for us on a more regular basis. As I say, he’ll get a shock if he thinks this will be good enough for a club like Real Madrid.
I judge him by the very high expectations that he’s had surrounding him since before he joined us, maybe that’s harsh of me but with the ability he’s got, it’s a shame he’s not made that step up to become a truly elite player.
I think Hazard is an exceptional player and should play in a better team. I want that to be at Chelsea but when you have players like Alonso, Moses etc then it's no surprise we rarely see the best of Eden imo. We would never see Messi perform to the standards he does with any 10 of our current crop. As I say, Hazard is a victim of how talentless we are currently...too much is expected of him because he's the only superstar we truly have.
I doubt very much Drogba was a great player without Frank causing havoc or Cech so good without JT...and so on. Kane is great but l look at Eriksen pulling the strings. I just don't see Hazard as having any greatness as back up...someone else who steps up.
As I have mentioned elsewhere, we are spot on, B, IMO.
If Messi or Ronaldo have off days, their teams still manage to win.
Hazard has an off day, we rarely trouble even the most average of teams, and fans get on his back.
We need pace on our wings, and the midfield creating space for him in front of him, Alonso, Moses and Fabregas can’t/don’t do that.
I personally reckon he would be a better option for City, to replace the overrated Sterling.
I also think he could play in the same Real team, with Ronaldo.
If our squad doesn’t change much in the summer, we need to sell him, while we can get as much as possible. Like you, I hope we don’t and we clear out, at least the three, I have mentioned above, along with Conte.
I’d be worried if you didn’t think your opinion was spot on
Messi and Ronaldo don’t really have off days, especially when it comes to the big games, and that’s one of the differences between them and players at Hazard’s level.
Hazard will not reach their level.
I’m not sure why people think he should.
Because on his day, he is brilliant. One of the best players I’ve ever seen in the flesh for sure. But he doesn’t have those days enough, given how much the club/team has actually been set up to make him the main man, under various managers now.
He should be the one stepping up more often. And that’s been the case in better Chelsea teams than this season’s - how many great CL performances from Hazard can you name? I actually can’t think of one. That’s not good enough for the level I think most people agree he should be at, at this stage of his career.
Hazard plays in a Belgium team with loads of great players and doesn’t shine regularly. Messi single-handedly got Argentina to the World Cup and their record without him speaks volumes. Drogs’ performances amongst not-so-great players in Ivory Coast and for us in 2012 also show why he was such a big game player.
I know I’m judging Hazard by very high standards here but with his talent, I think that’s fair to do.
You are judging him at the wrong club.
My point is that the club and team shouldn’t stop a totally elite player from being brilliant more often. Real Madrid fans would probably allow him two quiet games maximum before turning on him. Do you think he’s got the mentality to handle that? I’m not sure.
I also include his international displays in my overall assessment of him.
Who, in our team, sets Hazard up with chances on a regular basis, like Marcello, Isco, Benzema, Modric and Kroos do with Ronaldo?
Hazard could never score the headers that Ronaldo does.
Ronaldo, although very good at Utd, only became one of the greatest ever, after moving to Real.
Perhaps you should see if Hazard joins them, to see if he can move up a level?
None of them play for Portugal where he still manages to win games on his own fairly regularly. When he was Hazard’s age, he was doing it on his own. Obviously he plays a different way nowadays so is more reliant on other players but he would still shine in an inferior side. This is by no means a vintage Real side.
Ronaldo in his last two seasons with Utd was already on a different planet to anyone else in the League, and bearing in mind some of the players around at that time, that’s no easy feat. The main difference between Cristiano and Hazard is their personality. Talent wise, ok they have different strengths but Hazard matches him for natural ability and he’s not as lightweight as he looks. People mock Ronaldo for being selfish and arrogant but his dedication and desire to improve constantly and to be the best is what’s put him on Messi’s level. In a way, the fact Hazard hasn’t already left is part of the reason why he isn’t up there with the very best. I think he’s happy plodding along as he is.
Also, half of those players you mentioned aren’t popular with the fans and/or are likely to be leaving Real in the summer...
As I say K...we saw a much better Hazard when Costa starred for us. The defenders had 2 dangerous players to deal with but now the full attention is focussed on just Hazard. Its a lonely game for Eden I feeland also one where he gets clobbered 5 or 6 times a game in England. If I were close to him I'd advise he moves tbh.
Costa was here in 15/16 and Hazard didn’t turn up for most of that season. I know he wasn’t fully fit but I can’t forget how he walked off up at Leicester when we needed him, that told me all I needed to know about his personality.
If I were at Real and watched that Barca tie, I don’t think I’d be going in for him mate.
And we deserve better than we are currently getting from him. It's now two seasons that he has clocked off when he does not fancy it and with end of season tournaments coming up. i can't see RM being silly enough to pay top dollar for him unfortunately.
