[pcfc] our Munich hero [pcfc]

Best GK we've ever had at CFC, sold too early - and to the wrong club!

Hope to have him back at the club in some capacity in the near future.

Legend.
And well done to Mourinho for getting him.

Great player for us, wonderful signing, gave up the right to legendary status by joining Goons.

Same as Frank joining City really...he damaged his status a little with me as I fear he may have known what was happening and what the plan was. I'm also remembering JT hinting (strongly) at a move to Arsenal before Roman came in with his bundles. We could go back even further to another legend and look at Osgood. I have nothing against the above because they have a career to progress in. It just sours the taste I may have had for them. Drogba has always held Chelsea up highly and remains a big Chelsea legend in my mind (and heart).

Very few are true legends.

Of course he is a club legend.

moved to Premier League side Chelsea for a fee of £7 million (€9.8 million) in 2004, which was then a club record transfer for a goalkeeper. During his eleven year stay at the club, Čech registered 486 senior appearances, making him the club's highest overseas appearance maker, and sixth all-time.[4] He also helped the club win four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, one UEFA Europa League title, and one UEFA Champions League title. He also holds the club all-time record for clean sheets, with 220. Čech departed Chelsea in 2015.

Čech holds a number of goalkeeping records, including the Premier League record for fewest appearances required to reach 100 clean sheets, having done so in 180 appearances, the most number of clean sheets in a season (24), as well as the record for the most clean sheets in Premier League history (202).[5] Čech is also the only goalkeeper to have won the Premier League Golden Glove with two separate clubs, and has won it a joint record four times; in 2004–05, 2009–10, 2013–14 and the 2015–16. He was voted the IFFHS World's Best Goalkeeper in 2005, received the award of Best Goalkeeper in the 2004–05, 2006–07 and 2007–08 editions of the UEFA Champions League, and went 1,025 minutes without conceding a goal in 2004–05, which was also a Premier League record.

I stand corrected.
Kenyon would have signed him.
Ranieri was the manager when the deal was agreed, but ultimately was sacked before Cech signed in July.
Mourinho gave him his Chelsea debut.
We all know what records Cech broke during his Chelsea career.
And, on top of that, we sold him for more than we bought him.

I would say Jose dropped Cech in favour of Courtois and Cech gave it a season and then looked for the move.

The same as he did to Cudicini, the rest is history...

Well done to mourinho for playing him over Carlo. That was a big call at the time. Proved to be the correct one.

Having myself also having suffered from the same head injury as Cech had, I think it's quite incredible how he came back to such a high level, so quickly. [pcfc]

Ranieri signing.

JM dropped Carlo for Petr but, he did not sign him.

No longer a legend of mine...couldn't give a toss really.

Whilst I think the club allowing the Arsenal move to go ahead was terrible, and him celebrating trophies won at Wembley against us was horrible to see, the fact remains that he’s by far the best keeper we’ve ever had and probably will ever have, he won us the Champions League & FA Cups with vital penalty saves, plus he’s a gent on and off the pitch.
I hope as years go on, we’ll remember him as being Chelsea, the same way Cudicini and Eidur aren’t associated with Spurs.
