Well, I like him. I think he has a plan for the long term rather than the short term.

I feel some of the players are letting him down very badly. We get a top show from them vs Spurs and then the first half vs Arsenal. Not a pair of balls between them performance. Sarri is learning fast how these players are very much hot and cold...something we already knew.

I personally think Sarri has a very low opinion of the squad he has inherited. So much so he rarely errs from what he thinks he can trust as his best. This is where he is failing - if being 4th and still in all cups is deemed failing. We will always get 100% from Aspi, Pedro, Luiz and Kante but I can't say that of the rest tbh. It's what he says about motivating the team...they're either hard at it or not at it at all and I see that totally.

I remain convinced Sarri needs at least 2 transfer windows to get rid of the dead wood that lies rotting within the squad. When I look at the squad I see a very average crop. Many have to go but I also fear Sarri won't be given time to remodel the side...just like Carlo was ousted when he tried the 'out with the old' task.

I stand by Sarri and sympathise with what he has adopted. 75% of the squad are workshy and only turn up when they fancy it. Regardless of who the boss is.

[^] I have some sympathy with Jose at United in that he was trying to instil a League winning mentality into the club.. a few poor results and Ole will get the same. With the power now with the players and their criticism averse lifestyles, old school gaffers now seem redundant, so not sure where Sarri sits in relation to this. All round the standard has dropped in the PL over time. We run around a lot and being good at football is no longer enough. Look at the starting elevens of the 2008 CL Final teams and who from us and Utd now would get anywhere near.

This current crop of Chelsea superstars have been up and down for the duration of their contracts. We had one great run of victories during Conte's first season resulting in a title but that apart it's been littered with substandard erratic shows. It can't all be down to the managers so I feel it's time a manager was backed to do a job.

I'm not saying Sarri couldn't do more than he does but me calling for a striker to start (for example) is just an opinion. I'm not at Cobham or elsewhere with other detail in hand. I just feel calling for a man to be sacked when his team sits 4th from the top and still in the cups is unfair. Whether or not he has flopped remains to be seen.

We have a squad full of players with a cup competition mentality and one way to change that is to stick by a manager over a few years. This is possibly why Jose fails over 2/3 seasons because people never let it play out. Such is football 2019. Over the years I'm guilty of thinking I know better.
