Last summer I asked for the above to be given the chance to lead Chelsea and very few saw value in that combo often quoting 'too early'

Now I see on social media a huge wave of belief in them...what changed?

The bigger gamble was taking on a man that had won zilch and had zero experience of the PL...not 2 young men with serious winning mentality who know Chelsea and the PL inside out.

Add Jody to that mix and we'd get youngsters who want to play for us.

The club needs to do something like this because it's falling apart.

I’d love for them to manage here one day but I’d much rather them get their experience and make their mistakes elsewhere, because if they failed here then that’d be a huge and unnecessary blow to them, the club and the fans.

People slagging off Sarri for where we are right now whilst also calling for Lampard to be given the job here, seem to be ignoring the fact that as impressive as Frank comes across in interviews and as entertaining his side seem to play, Derby are lower in the Championship than we are in the PL, despite everything being put in place for him to succeed there by his board, certainly much more so than what our club does for managers/head coaches.

Ironically, comparisons are being made with Dean Smith at Villa to Sarri here as his philosophy football which worked so well elsewhere, hasn’t taken off there yet and he’s already getting stick from their support, so JT’s first steps into the coaching side of the game aren’t exactly going well.

I suppose Solskjaer’s the one people are looking at and wondering if Frank/Morris/JT can have that effect here, but Utd have got Mike Phelan back and I think he's the probably the main reason why Utd are doing so well and his role in their resurgence has been overlooked really.

I’d hate for Lampard and co. to be brought in as a short term fix for longer term problems, that wouldn’t be fair on them or us.

As per, many good points [^]

I'm a little opposite to that mate. If Frank and JT makes mistakes I'd rather it be at SB where they would receive understanding and support like nowhere else. I don't look at other clubs though, what OGS is doing at OT has nothing to do with my personal thinking because I've seen more player to manager appointments that fail rather than succeed. I just think Frank and JT are the perfect combo and at SB they would be given everything needed to succeed. They're also well respected throughout Europe so have a certain amount of bait factor.

We both want a manager to have time to adjust and set about a long term plan but as we're seeing with Sarri 9/10 months in he's being hounded out with gathering pace. I'm left thinking very few people are given time and support - only JT and Frank could get some tolerance.

It will happen one day, we know that. I have no issues with it being now and them lifting us up from a few knockouts.

I’d like to think Frank would get the backing of the board and fans if they came here but I’m starting to wonder if even they would get stick if things didn’t go well (not as much as Sarri right now, but enough to hurt them and their legacy).
I think part of the issue is expectations at the moment, I really thought in 15/16 that as a group of fans now used to challenging for honours, we handled that disappointment quite well. But I now think that we’ve actually probably become the most demanding supporters in the country. There are fans in their 20s who have known nothing other than success and view 5th place as disastrous failure (there’s plenty of older fans who think that way too).
Part of me is happy about that collective inability to accept mediocrity and maybe it’s helped fuel further success as a result, but another part of me wonders whether it’s become self entitlement and led to expectations that are never going to be satisfied. I know it’s all relative but there are supporters of 80+ other clubs in the country who would still love to be in our shoes right now.
I guess what I’m saying is, is there literally no low we could suffer under Lampard that’d make us part company with him? I don’t believe there is, and arguably rightly so, however I don’t think even that low would be low enough for me to want to take that risk at the moment. But perhaps that’s me just thinking too negatively and worse case about things.

As I say, very few will get the benefit of patience. This is where I think the combo is a great chance to buy some time. Zidane could come in tomorrow and have just a few games to hit a high...even that great player wouldn't last a low too long - regardless of the respect he has from football.

I see JT and Frank as being strong enough to take failure should it arrive. They know football and how cut throat it can be.

My other concern would be whether JT would be happy being a number 2, or indeed if Frank would be happy sharing the role. I think Lampard/Morris would be more realistic than Lampard/Terry, maybe with JT looking to take over when Frank gets sacked and labelled a fat fraud by furious fans :-D

I still wouldn't take them on, personally.

JT/Frank
by upthechels @, 20/02, 14:38 @ stanic_worship

Understand that mate.

I just see so many benefits and not least the inspiration both offer a set of lads. I'm sure we will go down the route of an old man who has never set foot in England.

JT/Frank
by stanic_worship, 20/02, 15:00 @ upthechels

Yeah I don't disagree, just think it's too early for them and we'd just ruin their careers before they've been allowed to work out their mistakes elsewhere.

JT/Frank
by upthechels @, 20/02, 16:17 @ stanic_worship

Sarri is saying the same about CHO [wink]

JT/Frank
by stanic_worship, 20/02, 16:53 @ upthechels

CHO is far from a finished product. But when you watch Willian and Pedro hit the first man from every cross and corner, you'd think you'd try something a little different...

would rather see Steve Holland back at the moment.

Let Frank and JT learn their new trade first.

He’s the type of person I’d love to see alongside Frank if he did take the job, but I suppose there’s a good reason Holland left us in the first place!
