the cricket, I can confirm that our MOTM tonight was Pedro
That ball he took from defence
Brilliant
Zola-esque jink for the goal too
That was incredible
I can also confirm trippier wins Chelsea's goal of the season award.
He took it well.
Does Giroud get an assist?
Amazing finish for the second goal
Thank you.
Kovacic and Kante not far behind.
Both excellent.
Great atmosphere and a much needed win.
I think we're spoiled with Kante, easy to forget how much of a wonderful footballer he is, particularly as he does it week in week out.
Kovacic has been hit and miss this season and has often looked like he doesn't know what he's supposed to be doing, but he was magnificent.
The midfield 3 were excellent last night.
Jorginho ran 12.2km, the same distance as kante - that surprised me!
Seems opinions mixed over whether he was MOTM or the worst performance ever given by a Chelsea player.
I think the truth, as it usually is, is somewhere in between. I think he’s had a decent couple of games, he’s always going to lose the ball at times playing in that role and he does seem to ponder too long sometimes, but he also did some good stuff both attacking and defensively
Funny as I was just about to say I thought he had a poor game, albeit his intensity was good. His passing was mostly poor, wanted too much time on the ball and slowed the play down more than (say) Kovacic (I only mention that because the whole point was that he's meant to move it quicker).
Just looking at his other stats from last night, he made the most tackles and most interceptions, he had fourth best passing accuracy (84.3% from 51 passes) and he was dispossessed twice (Kovacic, Pedro and Higuain were dispossessed more).
Not sure what that tells you but there you go
I think everyone played well, all the more impressive from those who played the full 120 minutes on Sunday.
Alonso and Azpi deserve a shout, along with the centre backs.
Alonso grew in to the game, as at first he was getting caught out by balls hit over him, but then improved.
I'm now giving you the famous Rivals vote of confidence...
