So he's off to Juve then.
Thoughts?
Decent enough bloke but too stubborn for his own good. No real engagement with the club so it looks like it is... he was just passing through. Winning his only ever trophy was more down to the players than him..... and a first for us not shelling out packets in compensation.
On another note, bit miffed to see Hazard kissing the RM badge, bit previous Eden!
Footballers just don't get it. As I've said previously...Hazard is not a Chelsea legend for me. A truly great player but it ends there.
A wonderful player. Also seems quite a humble man. I might be wrong, but that's the impression I get.
A legend for me.
Hard seeing a treasured (ex) player pledging his love for another. But I suppose he has to do it contractually and show that he means it, plus as I've got older it doesn't bother me as much it used to. EG: Cundy to Sp*rs
Having said that, will dread him coming back to haunt us if we draw each other in Europe. Which will happen, because this is football.
Sad about it to be honest, hurts a little more than Conte going. I liked him and appreciate what he did with an average squad. I wish him success at Juve. I hope this is not the end of Jorginho and we continue to look for possession football.
Found the football boring, am happy to see a change to Frank and some youth hopefully.
Like any manager and system...it always needed a decent goalscoring striker at the top of it all. I'm afraid with the ban in place we will do very well to achieve half of what we have this season. Gonna be very tough for the new guy and he will need patience - very unlikely these days :-(
This is what makes me worry about Frank returning. The fans would give him time, I’m sure, but would the board?
Even our cutthroat board can see any manager is now handicapped by alleged wrongdoings from those up above.
My expectation is at the lowest under Roman reign. From a business point of view, everything is hunky dory.
As for Frank, who else would risk their reputation on the Chelsea job without a budget?!!!
All signs seem to point to Frank!
I think Jorginho might just go to the next level now.
Sarri (best off for everyone it seems) to go on to a new chapter.
I think it’s a move that’s best for all concerned and leaves everyone happy. I think his type of football will translate better back in Serie A, especially with overall more technically gifted and intelligent players at Juve than he had here. I respect and thank him for helping us win a European trophy (with a Cup Final thrashing of Arsenal to boot) & CL football again and I wish him well, but chances are I won’t really give him a second thought once he goes.
Henry winter summed it up well on Twitter imo -
Sarri leaves #cfc with head fairly high. EL winner, 3rd place, EFL Cup final. But failed to connect with fans, often uninspiring football, record PL defeat, overlooked youth until late, restricted Kante, predictable subs, rarely a Plan B. Likeable bloke but too stubborn. 1/2
Really a year too early for Lampard but worth a gamble. Will re-connect with #cfc fans, give youth a chance (important with transfer ban & talisman Hazard gone), brings buzz, influential Morris, entertaining style, Cech mate, decent work at DCFC (who’ll be loath to lose him) 2/2
Great shout. Cheers for sharing as swerving Twitter a bit.
Let's say Frank and Jody do come. I'd love to see their (and Cech) sit down / man management with (especially fringe) players from the off, and then as the season progresses.
EG: Bakayoko / Drinkwater / Morata / Tammy Baberaham / Michy
I think we'd be better with Frank and Jody than without them.
However, I know I'm being very sentimental / emotional about it. Maybe it needs a Capello type authoritarian for a year.
I might actually enjoy some football at the Bridge next season. Good riddance
