I'm not feeling the excitement.
He's still a rookie and I'd hate to see it go tits up for him.
Another season at Derby then assess again.

I’m glad it’s not just me

I love the idea of it going well but hate the worry that it won't.

This begs the question 'what's tits up' at Stamford Bridge?! Finishing 3rd, defeat by pens against England's finest in a final and Europa cup winners (unbeaten). Some try to tell me Sarri is shite and the season was very much 'tits up'. I don't expect Frank or a proven top manager to beat that next season!!!

I have a very high opinion of Frank Lampard both as a player and as a man, as I'm sure many do. I have every confidence he has what it takes to be very successful at CFC. Am I fearful he will fail? No more than any other manager that takes over at Chelsea. You have to ditch sentiment sometimes, just as Frank did when scoring against us. If it comes off then we have a young manager in place for many years to come...the reward for that could be stability and structure. It's a gamble but Frank is man enough, he knows the score.

If we go down the route of employing another manager the shadow of Frank Lampard will loom large after every defeat or bout of poor form.

A manager who's ill equipped to deal with some dressing room personalities when things aren't going well.
A run of poor form and knives being sharpened.
Just my opinion and hopefully I'll be proved wrong .

Your opinion is always respected, J.

I see Frank as having lived his career in dressing rooms full of big egos. His record also demands respect of the players. At the moment some may feel bigger than Sarri (for example) at Chelsea but nobody in that dressing would be bigger than (fat) Frank

I guess the difference between us is you're protective of a Chelsea legend and want the time to be right, that's also the understandable view of many. I think the time is perfect with the ban in place because it cuts any manager some slack to get settled in. If reports are to be believed Frank will have some proper Chelsea men around him too. We know success will be hard to come by this coming season so with the expectation at an all-time low under RA I see no better time. It's a gamble but it's one I would take on because the reward is very high and could stand us up for many years...failure leaves us where we are today...always a manager down. Add to that the buzz (it's gone as you know) and the whole of the fanbase uniting behind the new management team. I personally see alternatives but nothing that creates the togetherness and patience when we will need it most - during the ban.

Thanks B.
You make a great case for him.
I've become a bit 'glass half empty'of late with the club but as you state I'd hate to see a club legend sully his reputation.
If he does get the nod hopefully as you state he gets to surround himself with a team of his choice.

I think the 'half empty' is very true for most of us mate. I never even knew Sarri before he came and knew little of Conte before him! How do we connect with the club atm??? Even a Chelsea legend of mine David Luiz causes division! There just isn't a link/bond between paid staff and the fans anymore.

We need a hero, step up Frank.

I love David Luiz.

The end.

The way the media work (in the main) is that knives will be sharpened whatever the weather. It's like the soap opera of all soap operas.

Which is why, in the cold light of day, it's absolutely bonkers that Frank takes this job. He's seen what the board did to Di Matteo and Eddie Newton. He's seen the board hire Rafa. He's seen the board sack Ancelotti in the most shameful of circumstances.

Yes, there's also that angle from Frank's perspective. Having seen all that happen during his time at SB it would be no surprise if he avoided Chelsea whilst RA is about.
