Why not get off the media bandwagon and back him?
It’s not as if Jose and Conte never rested Eden.
In our hands for a top 4, maybe even 3rd behind two record breaking teams with almost 100 points each.
Lost on pens in a final vs probably the best team ever in the PL
In a strong position with a great performance against a team unbeaten at home.
Has played more home grown than any other Manager
Jorginho is absolutely the only player that can play that role in this type of football we recruited Sarri to play.
Can’t recruit him on the strength of his style and then get on his back to change it
Please back him for another two weeks
What I would say is:
None of us here hired him or had any input, so we can criticise or not as we see fit.
I do think people micromanage their views, no one gets everything right and everything wrong, I am not a fan of his, but that is based on how I have lived this season. I don´t think they type of football has been great, I don´t like his stubbornness to never change anything regardless of how matches are going, we always play the same way, he makes the same subs every time etc etc.
Having said that, I don´t think yesterday he did that much wrong, we rode out their initial exuberance and then basically dominated the game, it isn´t his fault we don´t have a genuinely decent striker and resting Hazard as you say is an option for any manager, the players should have won the game but still brought back a decent result.
The league is funny this year in those 3-6 positions, there is a quality chasm to 7th and then all 4 teams are very inconsistent, we could finish 3rd or 6th very easily so I don´t think it is such a great achievement.
Overall I am not a fan, I do get it isn´t just his fault, Whilst I had never really watched Napoli, it was no secret what type of manager he was, so the board that appointed him should have known that such a specific manager would need certain elements to his squad that they just didn´t provide, that is on them.
With the transfer ban looming I genuinely think we need a different manager, but I hope we win every game left.
Constantly blaming Sarri totally ignores the recent past. If only it were just Sarri, Conte or Jose that has left us miles behind City and Liverpool. Sarri is taking flak for benching Hazard but I think his reasoning is fair and perfectly acceptable. We had Willian and Pedro (he scored!) patrolling Hazards manor so it's not like we had naive kids step in! We moan about the kids not getting a chance but the pressure on managers to succeed is immense at SB. Sarri has at least given game time to young players regardless of what that may have cost him.
For the record, I'm more than happy to let Mr Sarri captain the ship for another season but he may have to look for a better number 2, sadly. I've not been happy with Sarri all the time (very angry re Old Trafford) but with what he has I think I've seen a decent return - in golf terms, just above par.
If he
1) had a shower
2) chewed nicorette* instead of cigarette butts
3) wore a suit on suitable occasions
I'd warm to him a little bit more.
*other nicotine-substitute products are available
I thought we played brilliantly yesterday but I cannot fathom not going into these games without a proper player protecting the back four.
It amazes me that any Chelsea supporter pays any heed to anything written or spoken about us in the media. It is normally so factually incorrect to the point of drivel. I don’t think any tv analyst does any homework on the teams playing and most reporters stopped writing about what actually happened in a game years ago, all they report on now is controversy and their over inflated opinion.
Agreed
Listening to Gary Neville on Sunday and Nigel Spackman last night it is clear that they hadn’t even watched a Chelsea game since the last one they had covered.
Took a minute and a half for Spackman to tell us how he “prefers Kanté in the holding role” last night, apropos of nothing. A role which doesn’t exist in this team
It mystifies me how these people can be paid to supposedly give informed opinions on football.
A couple of games back against Prague he was going on about Kepa flapping at crosses whilst ignoring this fact that if he hadn’t come and got fingers on some deep crosses the unmarked striker at the back post would have scored. Took him five minutes to mention it again last night.
He only gets a gig on TV because he played for Liverpool and much as though I liked him as player he shouldn’t be anywhere near us when “analysing” games on BT.
The whole Kante in the holding role within the media just shows how little attention they are paying to what Sarri is trying to do and how over rated Kante is as a footballer. (Outstanding athlete and tackler, but not a world class midfielder)
The media do seem to be out to get at him and seem to be stoking the fire about fans being anti Sarri plus that twat on Talksport in the afternoons doesn’t help. I think it’s because there’s no leaks from the players complaining about him, which says more to me than anything else.
I’ve alluded to it before but I think part of the problem is this wider issue of social media fuelling extreme opinions and everything having to fit a particular narrative, with no middle ground anymore.
He’s far from perfect but he is what he is, and this would be a tricky job for anyone at the moment. We’ve still got a decent chance of ending the season achieving what I think most reasonable fans would have said, last summer, was the aim. The time to judge him is at the end of the month.
Hmm. I think those vocal on the Sarri subject were well ahead of any media bandwagon. The media picked up on the fans frustrations not the other way round.
I also, with the exception of 1-2 games would say that the fans are supporting the team and not explicitly being ‘sarri out’. Do you want no negative comments on here or social media?
For me, he’s been bang average. Inflexible, didn’t play RLC or CHO until late January, froze Cahill out, overplayed Alonso, has no plan b to Sarri ball, lost Chelsea points by playing Hazard out of position and for god knows how many games played Kante, Sarri and Kovacic when it was obvious it wouldn’t provide us with creativity. The fact Spurs, United and Arsenal are similarly poor in the league doesn’t make it acceptable. We’re still in with a shout for Champions League because of their poor play as much as anything Sarri has done.
None of that will stop me supporting us against Watford or the Germans
All previous Managers have played Eden in a false nine. Not just Sarri.
If we end up Top 4 and/or Europa winners, it would seem he gets no credit and down to others being rubbish.
It’s like saying City broke all records last season because others were rubbish.
Up until Nov, we were the only unbeaten team in Europe.
Has had to change the football philosophy at a new club, in a new country with inherited players like Drinkwater and Morata.
We have to accept that in this model , there isn’t a role available of a defensive holding player (Kante role) so we change the whole system to accommodate one player?
Give the man some credit.
