I fear it is two seasons too early and is a bit of a desperate measure by the club. There are so many negatives around the club and the current state of the squad that the odds are stacked against him. He will have to be some manager to make a success of it.

Who would you have preferred D?

We are such a poorly run club at times that we have left ourselves in a ridiculous situation whereby Frank was the only option, I very much doubt anyone of any quality would come given the transfer ban looming and losing Hazard.

I have no preference as I’ve stated regularly on here that 90% of managers are basically crap or non effective and only have the ability to make teams worse over time, so it doesn’t really matter who comes as these days success is ultimately down to whether the players can be arsed or not.

I don’t buy into this idea that the fans will cut him some slack as our fickle bunch will turn on him within three months if the results are poor.

I predict now that in the eyes of many Frank WON'T fail, he will be failed by others/circumstance. No other manager/person will ever get such freedom from the fans as a Chelsea manager.

I will cut Frank due slack but not because he's a Chelsea legend. I offer all managers the same if I can see something happening. All things considered, Frank has one season to impress me he can do a job. That doesn't mean winning something, it means heading somewhere. Sarri won my support because he took us from a team happy to play off the ball to a team that wanted the ball...backed in a transfer window I think he would have progressed - and then the ban came and he was lured elsewhere.

Far from easy for Lampard to succeed but he's started by surrounding himself with a trusted team which he will need as the media/pundits look to dismantle him at the first sight of poor form. The difference - unlike with Sarri, the Chelsea support won't be getting into bed with the clubs knockers this time. There's always someone to hate....I wonder who will be the target of the boo boys over the coming season?!

I predict Willian/Kovacic/Jorginho/Alonso will be the fans’ scapegoats

Jorginho needs to be brilliant, he was seen so much as Sarri’s guy.

If we don’t set up and play like we did under Sarri he will become redundant. Personally I hope we do but appreciate I am very much in the minority!

He definitely has an uphill struggle, but he is a good footballer, he may very well adapt to whatever is needed, I will be very happy for him to succeed. There is a Spanish saying that translates a bit clumsily but it’s sort of “His luck will be our luck”.

Unfortunately, I don’t feel exactly the same level of excitement as others do and have felt this way for weeks. I just hope this will now lift some of the often toxic atmosphere on show so often at times.

Given that before Lamps arrived, Zola was arguably our greatest ever player and his departure yesterday has gone under the radar so much that I doubt many know he’s gone, or even care, is that a cautionary tale for Frank as to how quickly playing greatness is forgotten if you’re not a top coach too? Bearing in mind Franco’s first season in management at West Ham was as decent as FL’s one & only at Derby so far, and the problems he’s inherited which many other Chelsea managers haven’t had to endure and yet still not been able to succeed despite track records of success elsewhere, the odds are stacked against him.

I really, really hope things go well, for both him and the fans; if this particular spell doesn’t, then it’ll hurt even more than usual.

I think it's the perfect time. I have my own misgivings, but can't ignore the massive feel-good factor that's much needed at the club and the fact that he's in a brilliant position to deliver genuine transformation, as the transfer ban gives him an excuse for potentially poor results and he'll get (or should) plenty of patience from the fans. The addition of Edwards, Morris and Newton is a big deal too - People who have been closely involved with the youth teams over the last decade between them.

Worst case, we'll get someone next summer with the carrot of a massive amount of money to spend...
