Must be one of my favourite players in recent times.
I must admit I was baffled why he wasn't getting used more. I get that Abraham is first choice and am happy for Frank to go that way, but there have been times when throwing on Giroud to change things up seemed obvious. Michy never improved or changed any game where he came on. Some of those defeats to bottom of the table teams might have been avoided with Ollie on for the last 20.
I think Frank knows Giroud and Batshuyi are on the way out. Giroud was likely to leave in January so Batshuyi got the call ups (quite right IMO) because of the 2 Batshuyi was the one who needed to impress and had a slim chance to stay after this season. I think that is still the case but Frank is now finished with Batshuyi ending the season out of favour and 3rd choice.
Tammy doesn't get a sniff if we had a younger Giroud...nor does Batshuyi.
I'd be happy to see us get in 2 more strikers leaving Tammy 3rd choice. The man is fragile.
Whilst I wouldn't disagree with that reasoning at the beginning of the season, it soon became pretty clear that Michy just was not up to it and I think it is fair to say Giroud should have got a sniff earlier, but we are where we are. Definitely need to bring some quality in. Much as I like him, and it's great to see a home grown boy playing, I do think Tammy is not the man to make us a force again.
We can only guess at the reasoning mate. That said, sitting 4th and starting to play some good stuff puts Frank in a very decent position suggesting he has got it right far more times than he's got it wrong. I'm sure even the best managers look back and think they've got a thing or two wrong along the way.
Part of the process for Frank will be making mistakes and hopefully learning from them.
