Thought you might be interested in the results of a recent survey of Chelsea fans regarding safe standing:

yep totally agree with safe standing

would be more affordable for fans plus as you say the atmosphere will be a lot better

works in Germany could easily work here

but parts of the LFC media will be all over it to make sure it doesn't happen.

I seriously doubt it would be more affordable. In fact I reckon after a few short years the standing prices would be up where the cheapest seating prices are now and the seating prices rocketed on to even higher levels.

Plus standing up at the match doesn't make your extortionate pre-match pie/burger/pint/brew or matchday programme any cheaper.

Very true

But the thought of standing again at the top level would be fantastic

I also go a lot of non league games now as I'm in exile down in kent

Ebbs fleet is my new local now

Another problem with standing at big grounds for me was always getting a get spec and keeping it. I used to queue up at the Street End before the gates opened in order to get a good spec at the front of the ledge half way up the terrace.

Then, because I was often on my own and had no-one to keep my spec for me, I'd have to go for a p1ss and lose my good spec to people that had wandered in at five to three from the pub anyway.

In those days I could keep it in till the match was over, but nowadays with my middle-aged bladder I'd have to either lose my spec and reapply about four times over during the match or just revert to being a dirty Kopite and use the rolled up newspaper technique.

part of the course that spart

move and you lose your spec

I miss it one of the best days for me was getting carried about 20 ft after Wayne Clarke slotted to stick there fooking record up there arse.

I go to a lot of non league football now and its nearly all standing there. In fact because you get to move around the ground and go wherever you like, when there are seats, hardly anyone ever sits in them at most grounds. So there is clearly a natural will amongst football supporters to stand at matches.

Personally I never really enjoyed standing at the big grounds with all the swaying and crushing that used to go on, so if it was brought back I doubt I'd use the facility myself but I've got no gripe with anyone else wanting to do so.

One thing that does bother me though is football fans deliberately flouting the current rules and standing in seated sections anyway. Man Utd and Liverpool fans seemed to start off this particular piece of arrogance, but sadly its starting to become the norm across the Premier League and elsewhere now.

Thing is, if football fans are trying to say "bring back safe standing, we've all learned our lesson and we promise we'll behave in future now" the worst example to give of that is to stand anyway when the current rules require you to sit down.

I've also seen plenty of incidents of people getting abusive with the poor sods that want to sit in the seat they've paid for and are having their view blocked by standing idiots infront of them when they politely ask them to sit down.

Behave yourselves and prove to the authorities you can be trusted to stand when allowed and you might eventually get what you wish for its that simple.
