I go to a lot of non league football now and its nearly all standing there. In fact because you get to move around the ground and go wherever you like, when there are seats, hardly anyone ever sits in them at most grounds. So there is clearly a natural will amongst football supporters to stand at matches.
Personally I never really enjoyed standing at the big grounds with all the swaying and crushing that used to go on, so if it was brought back I doubt I'd use the facility myself but I've got no gripe with anyone else wanting to do so.
One thing that does bother me though is football fans deliberately flouting the current rules and standing in seated sections anyway. Man Utd and Liverpool fans seemed to start off this particular piece of arrogance, but sadly its starting to become the norm across the Premier League and elsewhere now.
Thing is, if football fans are trying to say "bring back safe standing, we've all learned our lesson and we promise we'll behave in future now" the worst example to give of that is to stand anyway when the current rules require you to sit down.
I've also seen plenty of incidents of people getting abusive with the poor sods that want to sit in the seat they've paid for and are having their view blocked by standing idiots infront of them when they politely ask them to sit down.
Behave yourselves and prove to the authorities you can be trusted to stand when allowed and you might eventually get what you wish for its that simple.
